At most dance studios and gyms, it is common to see double pirouettes and double back handsprings. But at Tumble Dance & Cheer Productions, informed parents know they get "double success" for their children! That is because at TDC Productions, Dr Robyn Silverman is on the TDCP staff as a child and family specialist.
Dr Robyn trains our faculty and staff monthly on character building. In turn, our wonderful staff then teaches the skills of character building by incorporating the materials in the daily lesson of dance, tumbling, gymnastics, cheerleading and swimming at TDC Productions.
Students are encouraged to participate in "mat" and "floor" chats with their teachers and learn a new POWerful Word each month. Students discuss how they can use the new word and life skill in class as well as at home and school. Students also complete a one page "homework" paper with their parents and return it to our facility for recognition.
Each month, parents receive a copy of Dear Dr Robyn and Parents Perch to help them to implement the POWerful Word at home. A video of Dr Robyn is also embededinto the Parents Page of our website for parent to view as well. A link to Dr Robyn's Blog is also available for those parents who are looking for more information concerning character building and raising children.
Yes, you will see double pirouettes (and even triples) as well at double back handsprings at TDC Productions. But you will also see families experiencing much more at TDC Productions. Through the use of POWerful Words such as Respect, Camaraderie, Tolerance, Cooperation, Sportsmanship, Leadership, Responsibility and many more, our families are finding great success at home, in activities and school! Public educators have said "I can tell each one of my students are in your programs! They are more focused and respectful of others."
DISCUSSING OSAMA BIN LADEN WITH YOUR CHILD
Dr Robyn Silverman, our child development specialist that developed the Powerful Word Character Program, was recently on the Today Show talking about how to discuss the death of Osama Bin Laden with your child. If you are having trouble discussing this event with your child or want more information as to how to, and how much to discuss with your child, you may find this link helpful (sorry could not get the video to work) : http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/3041445/ns/today-parenting#42895587
Dr Robyn Silverman has a new book out titled "Good Girls Don't Get Fat". The book is about self image of young girls. Especially body image. The video below will give you just a glance at what you might find in the book.
