Frequently Asked Questions About Move-N-Lean Academy

My child is in 1/2 day Pre-K in public education. Can he participate in Move-N-Learn Academy?
Of course he can! Some parents use the Move-N-Learn Academy classes to enhance their child's public education. After all, public education does not offer all of the learning outlets that Move-N-Learn can for your child. Move-N-Learn offers a program September through July. The summer program offers great learning in a fun environment that helps a young child to continue in a learning pattern that enhances their fall public education entry. Many parent select it over  other summer activities for its long term value in their child's life.

What makes Move-n-Learn Academy different from other preschool age learning programs?
First  of all it is an arts based program filled with lots of interactive learning. Interactive learning means there is very little time sitting at a desk. Although the children do spend time learning to write their names, alphabet and numbers, a great deal of time is spent in active learning modules that include art, music making, creative movement, gymnastics and more. Creative dance and gymnastic skills taught actually help with pre-reading skills and math skills. Art and music are great right brain activities for the very young.  Included in Move-N-Learn is the nationally recognized POWerful Words program that teaches young students great words that empower them and help to build good character skills. A module of spanish, computer and pre-piano are also included and in the warm months of May through September, swimming lessons from our Star Fish Swimming Academy is also included.

Why does my child need to be fully potty trained to participate in Move-N-Learn Academy?
Move-N-Learn Academy is not a daycare for children and is not licensed as a daycare. Move-N-Learn Academy is an arts based learning program that helps a young child prepare for public school. Children need to also be "binkie"free.

I am not sure I want my son to take dance lessons. Does he have to participate in the dance module?
All of the students willingly participate. No one is ever forced to participate. The dance section of Move-N-Learn is creative movement and not tap, jazz or ballet. Creative movement allows the child's imagination to sore freely. Students move like animals, pretend to climb trees and much more. They also work with scarves, ribbon wands and parachutes which is terrific for eye hand coordication. They move to music which is terrific in developing great rhythm that can carry into other movement areas such as a formal dance or gymnastic program and even sports!

You say that they children in Move-N-Learn receive music lessons and it is more than just singing. What do you mean by more than just singing?
In Move-N-Learn, students receive the Music Pups Program by The Music Class. We are a certified studio of The Music Class and offer a unique program that teaches your traditional music along with music only available with The Music Class. Students recieve a cd of the music and a song book that is also a coloring book. This way, the parent can enjoy the music of Music Pups along with their child as they drive home.
The program includes singing, music making with many different rhythm instruments, toning, chanting., prop use and more. The class is relaxed and fun so that if a child feel that they need to move to the music at the same time, it is allowed. We think our parents will be very happy about the outcome of this program especially when their child sings the class opening song "I'm So Happy" as they go down the road.

I can get preschool for a lesser tuition price than Move-N-Learn. Why does Move-N-Learn cost so much more?
Move-N-Learn is not a typical preschool setting. As an arts based learning program for children ages 2- 5 yrs, children are exposed to right brain and left brain activites and learning events. It is our philosophy that young children who are exposed to music, art and movement in an organized educational program are better prepared for public education and the outside world. Through arts based programs, young children learn about what they can achieve through the use of focus, commitment and self discipline. If you are already paying for a preschool setting and dance or gymnastic classes seperately, you may be paying more than what the tuition costs at Move-N-Learn Academy.

Why is there a per semester registration fee?
We believe in making life simple for the parents. Our parents are very busy, committed people. By paying a per semester registration fee, parents are never asked to bring snacks, school supplies, tissues, etc. Although some parents have believed in the past that they could furnish all of the needed items at a reduced rate, they soon changed their mind when they looked at the hours, gas and money they saved by paying the semester fee. We do it all for our parents and no child ever goes without!  Because Move-N-Learn offers your child so much, our parents believe that the value they receive for their child far out weighs any investment.

If your school is not all day, are they getting as much as they would in public school?
Actually they are getting more and without removing the free play and physical side (recess)! With smaller classes (close to a third of what the public school count is) it gives the teachers alot more time with your child. More time to converse and get to know them, more time to assist them individually, more time to address any difficulties and assist them, more time to learn and have fun! Move-N-Learn does not have alot of fluff. Everything we do has a learning objective for the class students.

I work and it is difficult for me to get off to pick up my child at 11:30.
Then we would suggest you look into our lunch bunch group class. This is an educational class that meets Monday -Friday from 11:45- 1:00 pm. You are welcome to enroll your child for this program to extend your day and have more time to pick up your child. Lunch bunch members can bring their lunch or they can order one of our catered meals in. There is a seperate fee for this class but Move-N-Learn members do receive a discount. Call our office for more details.

I need to be at work before 8 am. What time can I drop off my child?
We prefer no earlier than 7:50 am, but we also have a fun fitness class option at 7:30-8:00 am that you might want to consider enrolling your child in. This is seperate from Move-N-Learn and there is a fee, but Move-N-Learn Members do receive a discount.
