On A Recent National Broadcasted Webinar,
"HEALTHY U"
was mentioned as a program that has the potential
to help turn around the the national trend
of childhood obesity and diabetes!

"HEALTHY U"

"Healthy U" is a seven hour workshop dedicated to teaching your young child how to "choose to be healthy". By empowering the young child to start having an active part in their healthy choices, the aim of "Healthy U " is to help young child develop into healthy  young adults.

"Healthy U" is presented by Dr. Sarah Myers, DC, CFT and is an interactive workshop that includes fitness level testing, recommendations for improving fitness levels, better food selections, how to read labels,how to pack or select a healthier lunch and snacks, and how to find FPA (Fun Physical Activites) in your area as well as how to create their own FPA!

"Healthy U" is not a program that focuses on or promotes weight loss, but rather ahealthy weight and fitness levels for children through knowledge and activities.

                                       What Happens at "Healthy U"?


 The morning began with demonstration of skills and individual fitness testing. The participants then moved to the classroom and learned to read a nutrition label and what to look for. Time was spent on teaching how to calculate grams of sugar, calories and carbohydrates in multiple products, especially favorite products consumed by young children. The challenge was then to try and pick out the most healthy items to put their own lunch together. this intractive lunch style was received with great enthusiasm and energy from the group as hey triedo decide if they had made the right choices!
After lunch, the group learned a little bit about yoga and pilates as a method of strength building. After which, time was spent on discovering fun physical activities. All went away with a totally new idea as to what physical activity can be and started to begin to put together a plan for their own "FPA" for family and friends.
The afternoon completed with learning how to make a healthy snack and the fruit smoothies were enjoyed by all! Dr Sarah then spent time with each individual over their fitness testing level and how they can improve.
Theday was greatly enjoyed by all and it was not a surprise that more than one person was heard to say "I do not want to go home yet!"
