Children With Special Needs Can Benefit From Classes
We have believed for years that children with special needs can benefit from our classes. We have opened our doors for years to those students who need just a bit more support in learning and have watched them to succeed. They, with the support of their families, have even participated in our spring show and received high levels of support form the other students, families and audience.Take a look below at what classes we offer for children of special needs and their families.
Sound Habits™ Keyboard Class
Sound Habits™ is a wonderful keyboard class for students 4 - 6 years of age. Since it is a class that a parent takes with the child, it is also a wonderful pre-piano class for children of special needs that operate at a high level. Those that develop a love for the piano through this class may be able to move into a private piano class. Children that operate at a high level of Autism, Asperger or Downs Syndrom may do quite well with piano and reap the benefits of eye hand coordination, fine motor, task orientation and cognitive reasoning.
"Merry Melodies"
New this year is "Merry Melodies" class. This is a parent and child music class for children of special needs. We all know the benefits of music and how it can move us to new cognitive and sensory levels. Now your child can also experience the music and the fun with you by their side. This first class offering is for ages 3 to 8 years of age. If your child is younger or older than the set age group, please call our office and we will certainly consider starting a waiting list for the class age group you are looking for. This class requires no special attire or shoes. Loose fitting clothing where you can easily sit on the floor and or do simple body movement to the music. Socks for feet are suggested. Teacher is university trained in music education.
A form from your doctor stating any limitations needs to be presented to our office. This way we can design the class experience to your child's greatest benefit. We must have this form prior to your first class.
Materials used are from our Music Pups™ program. The materials are wonderful! Some traditional music blended with original music specific to the program.
To register and enroll in the class, please use the on line registration tab on our website and filter to the TDCP Location. The class is limited to 6 (parent and child couples) so that everyone has a great time.

We have sent out letters and fliers to area physicians and therapists about our program. This does not mean that we have reached everyone though.
